Oh, wait a minute - I misunderstood your post. Hope you can find it from these foggy clues - I really like the Zero 100 too, and I shouldn't have sold mine. All that I can remeber is that it was directly under the arm where it came through the deck and connected to the mechanism, and that the whole thing isn't supposed to pivot, just the center piece. Too bad I didn't take pictures and better notes because it is a very common problem and once it's cured you won't have any problems with the change mechanism for years. It took me a long time to figure that one out on my Zero 100 and SL-95 tables. The grease dries up and the entire housing starts to pivot instead of the inner workings - thus it is very easy to miss. I can't quite remember what this mechanism looks like, but there was a part that was supposed to pivot for the arm action. The second problem of the turntable slowing down when the arm pivots is in the pivot mechanism directly below the gimbal under the deck. It should move back and forth with the tone arm. Also make sure that the slide lever from the tonearm mechanism is not hung up. Remove the clip and disassemble the trip pawl assembly, lubricate it and reasemble. It looks like a lever/link setup with an "e" clip on top and a shaft which goes to the bottom of the gear. If you remove the platter you will see the trip pawl assembly mounted on the main cam gear. The first problem - the constant cycling - sounds like the trip pawl on the main drive gear has frozen up. I have a service manual coming this week and will share with all who may need it. It keeps repeating play and won't turn off like something is not catching in the mechanism.Īny ideas guys? Sounds like a really easy one. I cleaned the inner platter contact area and everything I could see that was dirty. The idler is like new yet I cleaned it with a capstan cleaner. I may have missed somewhere right? Also I oiled the main bearing with two drops of precision oil. I cleaned the old grease completely off everywhere I could find it and replaced with new. I have that problem plus the sluggish movement of the platter when first starts and when it lifts to come back to the tonearm rest it trys to stall then gets going again like its pissed off. When it reaches the end it lifts and again slows down like it wants to stop, goes to the arm rest then goes back to the record. Problem is when I press Start in either manual or automatic it will lift the arm, slow down a little then set down on the record. I know many do not like changers here but I got this as I had one many years ago and wanted to have it for nostalgia reasons. Well I am at it again this time with a nice old Zero 100c.
